In late 1980th, Hope Village Society (HVS) was founded by late English Mr. Richard Hemsely in cooperation with a number of charitable figures in the Egyptian society. Hemsely has worked for 14 yeas as a headmaster of a Cairo-based language school. He has delivered numerous voluntary works that aimed at assisting children in difficult circumstances both in Egypt and in his homeland (England). Besides, he has acted as a voluntary social counselor at Save Our Souls (SOS) Children's Villages. In 1988, he has opened the first center in Nasr City area to provide shelter for 7 orphan children who lacked the parental care. Two years later, having noticed a number of children spreading out at Cairo's streets and squares, Hemsely decided to establish the first day care center for receiving street children during the daytime in Shubra area.
In 1995, Mr. Richard met his death after suffering from hepatitis. He transferred all his properties by will to the HVS's children; His Beautiful Dream.
By time, HVS managed to provide services and assistance for street children through 16 centers distributed in different parts of Cairo, Giza, and the 10th of Ramadan City as follows:
